ARTIST STATEMENT

I am an artist who seeks adventures and is excited about discoveries around every bend.  My work begins with a series of under painting, marks, scraping and shapes to create an honest foundation. To this surface, more layers are added, removed and manipulated to create the finished piece. Always present is what lies beneath.
I strive to faithfully depict images I observe that are a part of my journey, whether abstract or real. 
My hope is to imprint a memory of a discovery through art, and create an immediate, thoughtful response from the viewer.  I paint in my studio at the historic Livestock Exchange Building in Kansas City, MO.
